Last week I set a goal to run 75-80 miles over five weeks (April 30 - June 2).
After week 1, I am well on my way to reaching that goal.
Monday: I set out and did 3.5 - it was not my best run. I actually felt pretty good; just ran slow. No matter how disappointed I was with the time, I was glad I finished. My biggest reason for setting this goal is to maintain consistency.
Tuesday: Rest
Wednesday: After double- and triple-checking the radar, I set out for a planned 2.8 miler. I was feeling great, and ended up going an extra mile! Even after 3.8, I was feeling good! (hot, but good! I couldn't help but ask myself how we get through July when it felt hot on May2!)
Thursday: I left work early due to another threat of rain and storms. So when I got home, I had to finish some paper work. Of course it took longer than expected, but I decided I wasn't going to let that stop me. Though later than I normally head out, I went. I was going to allow myself to go a mile shorter than the planned 4.3 since I went an extra mile the night before, but at my turn around decided I had it in me. 4.3 completed.
Friday: Rest. I was going to plan a bike ride, but found out my bike is not yet ready. The tires are flat and the air compressor is at the house we will be living in. Just a little inconvenient. It didn't really matter though, because we were in and out of both thunderstorm and tornado warnings all evening!
Saturday: A cloudy, cool morning turned into a rainy, stormy afternoon; which eventually led to an absolutely beautiful evening. Around 5, I got changed, laced up the shoes and headed out. I walked my normal warm-up with the dear hubby and baby. I then went on my own. The family walk would have been nice, but I wanted to get my miles in! I don't know if it was the lack of stroller in tow or just pure luck, but I ran with an extra bounce it my step. I felt good the entire way, and finished 5 minutes faster than my normal time for that route. 5.5 miles ... check plus! Love feeling that way after a run.
Sunday: I thought about just getting a few extra, easy miles in today just for fun. But did some painting, cleaning, and laundry instead.
Regardless, at the end of week 1; I completed 17.1 out of 16.1 planned miles :)
Minus some occasional slight discomfort in my shins, I couldn't be feeling better!
