Well, this was one of the first weeks since the new year began that life really got in the way. Read on ..
Mon 2/18: Following my 6 miles on Saturday and Pilates on Sunday, I wasn't feeling it this day! However, I am (like last year) doing the Get Fit challenge through the YMCA. One of the goals of the challenge is to collect bonus points through different nutrition challenges and events. So, tonight there was a fitness test worth 250 points. It was 17 (?) stations where you completed different exercises (burpees, push ups, jumping jacks, shuttle run, etc.) for 1 minutes and counted how many you could do. So, I did that. Then did just 30 minutes (2 miles) on the track and called it a night.
Tues 2/19: For the first time in a while, I brought work home with me. GASP! I try to never do that! I already stay an hour late just about every night, what more could they ask! But, tis the season of paperwork. So, I skipped Pilates to write an IEP!
Wed 2/20: Remember I said life really got in the way this week? Yeah, this morning my hubby ended up in the ER with severe stomach pains. We still don't know exactly what from and are still, as I write this, trying to get them to go completely away. Needless to say, heading off to the Y just wasn't an option!
Thurs 2/21: Chad was home sick again today, and wouldn't you know as I was thinking about getting supper going, I was also peeling an orange for Ava. She happened to then put an orange seed up her nose! Considering my finger doesn't fit in her nose, she couldn't blow it out, and Chad wouldn't let me take a tweezers to try and get it out, off to the clinic we went! :( They were nice enough to pull it out without making us wait, and so, we were home quicker than expected! Despite everything going on, and because of it!, I told Chad I needed to go to Pilates! And so, I did.
Fri 2/22: After a week like that I also needed to keep my Friday rest!
Sat 2/23: There was enough going on our house and enough negative attitudes, that I didn't get to the Y this day either. I think Chad was struggling with having been cooped up, so he went out just to run a few errands and get out of the house. I played with Ava and the later into the day it got, the more I didn't care!
Sun 2/24: Wanting to end on a good note, I made it to Pilates and also ran 3.1 miles. I am glad running is getting to be a consistent part of my routine again. I am frustrated that I can't seem to find my pace. Just trying to trust in the process again.
And that's that. Life won this week, but it wasn't all bad.

Weekly Re-Cap: 2/11/13-2/17/13
Another week done! How is it possible that we are over half way through February? Just where does the time go .....
Mon 2/11: Headed to the Y and ran 4 miles! Was not a fast 4 miles by any standard, but 4 miles none-the-less! Finding that the more I run, the more I want to run! But still unmotivated by the treadmill and indoor track. Hopefully only a few more weeks before outside runs will be comfortable!
Tues 2/12: What else? Pilates! I was going to try for some cardio afterwards, but felt sick to my stomach! :( Thankfully it didn't turn into anything. I also had to go run an errand to Wal-Mart, so better to get that done than wait until late!
Wed 2/13: Cyclebox. Another cycling, bag punching 50 minutes of fun!
Thurs 2/14: Totally celebrated Valentines with Pilates and 45 minutes on the elliptical! :)
Fri 2/15: Rest
Sat 2/16: It was nice that my in-laws were visiting and I was able to get a nice long run in without feeling guilty! I ran 6 miles, in an okay time. Barely beat the 1:15 mark. Still not a fast time, but only 3 minutes off of a 12 min pace. I'll take it for now!
Sun 2/17: None other than a good Pilates workout. And it was a butt-kicking one, too. Lots of squats for the second time in a row! So much so that when we did a half-squat with reverse flys, my legs wouldn't stop shaking! I followed that up with 20 minutes on the elliptical - was hoping for more, just couldn't muster up the energy.
And that's that. Not too shabby.

Weekly Re-Cap: 2/4 - 2/10
Mon 2/4: The week got off to a slow start, when I decided to just stay in. The weather wasn't really cooperating, Ava hadn't slept worth a darn the night before, and we were all just tired and crabby. So, in I stayed!
Tues 2/5: Pilates, of course! Followed by 60 minutes on the elliptical. Longer than normal for two reasons: to try to make up for the missing Monday and to try to jump start the weight loss!
Wed 2/6: Cyclebox. Its a good class to get some cardio in while throwing a few punches!
Thurs 2/7: Pilates, and this time 45 minutes on the elliptical. The only issue with doing 45-60 minutes after Pilates class is that it is after 9 by the time I get home, and I have a heck of a time trying to settle down in order to go to bed!
Fri 2/8: Rest
Sat 2/9: I ended up running 5 miles in 1:06. Not a pretty or fast run, but 5 miles is 5 miles! I kept a slow easy pace for mile 1; did some sprint intervals through mile 2, and then a ladder the rest of the workout (walk 1, run 1, walk 1, run 2, walk 1, run 3, etc.). I went up to run 6 before I hit 5 miles!
Sun 2/10: Just Pilates today! I probably would have done at least a little bit of cardio, but Chad wasn't feeling well and I took Ava to the Y with me. When I was done with class we played in the toddler gym before coming home! Best play date I've had recently! :)
My weeks are starting to look pretty standard, and I am okay with that. Things are still varied enough that I am not bored. Just wanting to increase the runs some, but I know that will come with better weather!
Here's to another new week!

January Review
A quick re-cap of the goals I set for January:
.build consistency by working out a minimum of 3 times per week.
I blew this one out of the water! The minimum number of workouts I had in one week was 4, all other weeks I had 6! Altogether, from 12/31 - 2/3, I worked out 24 times!
.lose at least half of what I gained back. (goal for Feb. 1, 2013 is 170.3)
This is the most disappointing. I worked my butt off, and when I weighed in on Feb 1, I was either 3 or 5 pounds over what I was when the month started. I say either 3 or 5 because I was jumping back and forth a lot when the month started. I am sure a big part of it has to do with less cardio, which is why I am really working to increase that.
In a bit of better news, I took my measurements again. In just two or three weeks, I saw a couple of measurements come down!
Bust: from 36" to 35.5"
Waist: same at 35.25"
Stomach: down a whole inch from 42" to 41"
Hips: same at 38"
Thigh: down a whole inch from 24" to 23"
Calf: same at 14.5"
Bicep: same at 11"
Neck: same at 13"
Wrist: from 6" to 5.5"
Doesn't make me forget what the scale is saying, but helps me remember there is more than one way to track progress.
.clean up my diet. Over the last two months, a lot of the food I was eating regularly when I lost the weight had become boring. I switched a lot of things up, but I don't think they were all the best substitutes, especially when my exercise had become scarce at the same time.
Work was stressful and there was more snacking at my desk than I care to admit; however, I did reign in my lunches. I tracked specifically what I packed one day each week, and plan to write a separate post soon!
2013; you're off to a great start, but we need to keep going!

Weekly Re-Cap: Jan 28-Feb 3
Mon 1/28: I went to the gym not knowing if I was going to do Boot Camp or run - and ended up doing Boot Camp. It is nice that the class varies from time to time, so it was completely different than the week before. To me it felt like an easier set up, and yet I still got my butt kicked!
Tues 1/29: Pilates Mix, plus 30 minutes on the elliptical
Wed 1/30: Made up my mind early on that I was going to run tonight. I ended up with 5 miles, and it felt great! It was the first time I ran that far since October. Each time earlier in the month that I would set a goal, I fell short. More so out of boredom on the track that out of effort. To finally turn that corner and run mileage that was the norm last summer, felt amazing!
Thurs 1/31: Again, Pilates Mix and 30 minutes on the elliptical
Fri 2/1: Well deserved rest, if I don't say so myself.
Sat 2/2: I went to Cyclebox. Just keeping things interesting, and making myself get out and do something. It is a fun class, too!
Sun 2/3: Pilates Mix followed by 45 on the elliptical. Class didn't have as much cardio mixed in, it was Sunday afternoon versus 8:00 on a week night, and I need more cardio!
Generally speaking, another great week. Plan continues to be to mix in as much strength and core work as I can, but still try to fit in more cardio. And of course wishing it were spring so I could run outside!
Here's to the first full week of the new month!
