My running absolutely went to a new level in 2013. By the numbers, and according to my Nike Plus Running app, I ....
...ran 636.6 miles. My lowest month was 13.4 total miles. My highest month was 102.8 miles. In 2014, I am aiming to even that out a little bit more, and going for 900 total miles. I think both will be reached and maybe even surpassed given all the training plans I will be following! (see previous post!)
...ran those miles in 126 runs. My average run was 5.0 miles. So far in 2014, my average run is 5.6 miles. I think that naturally increases the better you get since you can cover more ground in less time.
...ran for a total of 127 hours, 14 minutes, 57 seconds! Not that I typically track that, but it is a fun stat that Nike will spit out at you!
... ran three races in 2013. The Earth Day 5k, Women Rock 1/2 Marathon, and Light the Night 5k. Both 5ks were Personal Records. Going for 5 races next year, but after remembering about Light the Night, might have to make it 6. What could a local 5k hurt?
...lost 11 pounds. This is actually a disappointing stat for myself. Late last fall (2012) when we were going through infertility treatments, I gained roughly 5 pounds back of the 27 I had lost in 2012. Even when I got back on track with working out, I gained 5 more. This was in the first three months of the year when my mileage was low, but I was doing a lot of classes at the Y. Even through my Women Rock training, I just maintained at that weight. Right after the race, at the start of this school year, I started dropping nearly a pound a week! By Thanksgiving, I was 9 pounds down than I started the school year at! I have been plateaued since then, and have only dropped 2 more with a lot of yo-yoing. I would like to lose a handful more in 2014, but it is not my top priority.
....also lost inches. Compared to some numbers I posted nearly a year ago, I have lost 6.5 inches. The biggest changes have been waist, stomach, hips, and thigh at an inch each. We'll see where this goes in 2014.
...have found consistency and confidence in myself as a runner. While it is nearly impossible to put numbers on these areas, they are by far the most satisfying of the goals reached.
I can't wait to see where I go in 2014. I thank the Lord for the opportunity He gives me to run, and pray for a successful, injury free 2014. They way I see it, I can only get better and enjoy the process even more than I did last year.
