I have my races for 2014 planned out, and it is going to be my biggest and most challenging year yet! :)
Already paid for and on the calendar are:
Earth Day 1/2 Marathon on April 19 - this will be my fifth year running an Earth Day Run; but my first half-marathon there. I ran the 5k in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Looking forward to it.
and
Grandma's Marathon on June 21 - this will be my first full marathon of 26.2 miles. I am both nervous and optimistic about this experience.
Others on the docket include:
Hog Jog 5 mile race on July 5 - this one is probably the most questionable of races I would like to do, given that it is only two weeks after my marathon and I don't know what our summer plans are in their entirety. I ran this race in 2012 when we first moved to town but missed it last year because we were on vacation.
Brat Trot 4 mile race on August 2 - I am looking forward to this run. I already know I will be home for it because my cousin is getting married that day! This will be my first race in my hometown considering I didn't get serious about running until I moved away! This will also be memorable because my dad has decided he wants to run a race with me and my sister and we have talked a whole group of our family into running it. It won't be a PR, but it is sure to be one for the books.
Mankato 1/2 Marathon on October 19 - I am not sure how I feel about running two short races, a full marathon, and two half marathons, but I also know I would struggle through the fall with nothing on the agenda to keep me motivated. This will be a first for me, and picked it just for the proximity to home. Depending on how I am feeling after clearly running my most mileage ever, I could end up doing the 10k instead of the half. Time will tell.
Ready - Set? Let's go running! :)
