I thought September was tough, but October didn't prove to be any better. More of the same really; best laid plans but life is just busy. Heck I haven't even been blogging much since I bring paperwork home nearly every night. I am just that swamped at work, and it isn't going to get better for the next couple weeks. With brining work home, two nights of conferences, a weekend gone, rest time after my half, the final stats for the month are:
Original plan included workouts on 24/31 days. I ended with just 17 days.
Had I ran all my planned runs, especially my long runs, I should have had 81 miles this month. Instead I ended up with a measly 29 according to Nike Plus, 28.89 by my account. The difference is I counted my half as 13.1, it got entered as 13.25 or something similar. At any rate, as the weather started to change, the days got shorter, and work built up, I just didn't maintain my miles. 29 miles is the lowest mileage month since March 2013. Huge disappointment right there! Need to just ride out this rut thought, because I know I am not giving up running. Just needing some better planning and some variety right now.
For cross-training, I planned 22 classes. It helps that there are nights I get in two classes (kickboxing and kettle bells, or TRX and boot camp, etc.) I ended with 16, which was due to a few full TRX classes, and a few missed on evenings I chose work first.
Total time working out was 18:30:15.
I am going to barge forward into November and hope I can find some balance. I am not lowering my standards, but if I don't meet my goals I will be okay as long as I go with quality over quantity. I feel myself getting pulled into the mindset I thought was well behind me, the "I'm not making progress anyway, and if I can't do it well then why try." Which is ridiculous. I have my work cut out for me moving forward to get over this hump - but I am going to give it my best. The hard part will be the mental part in a month filled with hunting, reports for work, and holidays. Balance will be key.
For the sake of including something positive, in an otherwise cruddy month, lets not forget I did pull out a 4 minute half-marathon PR.

Sometimes you need a down month to get all motivated and kick some butt the next month!
Yay for your 4 minute PR!!
