I received my second Stitch Fix on Monday! The doorbell rang, and I was absolutely distracted for the next several hours examining the items and trying everything on, then prepping this post! I do feel the need to apologize for the quality of the pictures - Ava so badly wanted to help me, and I thought it would be better than selfies in a mirror like last time. They might be a step up, but still not great. Apparently, I don't know where to get the best lighting is in our house and I need to figure out a better set up for taking pictures!
Like last time, as soon as I knew it had shipped I logged on and cheated by clicking check-out to see what items were sent! Then I get really obsessive and try looking for the items on google and pinterest. Most items I am able to find on another blog or pin that has shared it. Fun because it makes me excited for what is coming, stupid because it can give me unrealistic expectations!
This time around I was sent a dress, a skirt, a necklace, and top, and a pullover. I had Ava proudly hold each item up for me so I could get a sneak peek and see what first impression each item made on me! She has an weird attitude/look somewhere between being super proud to help and pouty for no reason through most of them!

Colourworks Fransesco Elbo Patch Detail Pullover Sweater - neutral like I would typically like, but also wondered what dress pants I would pair it with if I wore it to work. I couldn't help but cringe at the thought of wearing it with the skirt pictured above like suggested - oatmeal with black and white?
So, I did what any sane person with a ton of things to do would do - headed upstairs to try everything on!
First up, the Fransesco pullover. I pulled out a pair of old pants I've had forever to put it with, it might be a little monochromatic though? I could maybe get away with my dark brown dress pants as well, but still too much neutral? Maybe I could get a pair of navy dress pants I've had my eye on for awhile? Or just save it to go with jeans and boots?

Verdict: still undecided.
Next was the Renesme Graphic Print Faux Wrap Dress. Putting it on, it seemed like it was going to be too tight. Once I figured out where the sleeves laid best, where the waist was to sit, etc., I didn't think it was too bad. From one view it is flattering, from another it makes me feel pregnant - but I am super self conscious about my stomach all the time. The length was fun. Maybe a little too low cut to wear to work. We have at least one wedding this May I could maybe wear it to? If I wore it to work, what color tights would I wear? Brown boots or black? These were the multitude of thoughts going through my head!

Verdict: Undecided. Honestly, if I keep this, I will end up keeping the whole box. With the two items I plan to keep for sure, plus the dress, it adds up to the same as if I kept everything and get the 25% discount. So, there is a lot weighing on if I keep this dress or not! Verdict on the necklace since I didn't take any other pictures of it - it will go back unless I keep the whole box. I just don't wear that much jewelry and don't know for sure what I would put it with.
The next piece I tried on was the striped top. This was pretty comfortable right from the get go. I put it on with a pair of black leggings I got over a year ago from Maurices (they would fit better if I could lose the weight I put on!) just so I could see if the coverage over leggings was sufficient. I felt like it was.

Verdict: keeping. Easy to put with black leggings or pants, or even jeans.
Finally, I tired on the Kelsey skirt. They sent this to me after I pinned that I would love a skirt to go with boots. I've worn boots with dresses and sweaters/leggings, but not a skirt. As you may have noticed in the picture above, it has a bit of a chunky, elastic waistband. Honestly, when I put it on, I didn't know if I should wear it high like a maternity skirt (bad analogy, makes me feel fat!) or low like a pair of pants. I tried it both weights. Either way, the skirt was comfortable, and I think it's fashionable? My only question is what I should put with it? I paired it with just a black shirt, but that seems to plain. The suggestion card shows it with different colored shirts, but that isn't really my style. Too loud for me, or something. So, I am not sure what/how I will wear it.

Verdict: too cute not to keep! I just have to figure out what to wear with it. Chunky black or white sweater? step out and find a colored shirt or sweater to go with it? Decisions, decisions!
Ultimately, I thought it was a decent fix. My issues with the items are less about how they fit, and more about how I would wear them. I am getting two items for sure - the striped top and the Kelsi skirt. As I prep this post, I am still torn on the dress. If I get all three items, I am just going to keep the whole fix because the cost of the three items is almost identical to the keeping it all and getting the 25% discount. I like the necklace, but don't wear a ton of jewelry, and the pullover I feel it just hard to pair up with things for work. Maybe I am just not stylish enough!
Prices: I have mentioned one of the things that kept me from not trying Stitch Fix for so long was the prices. I do not spend a lot on clothes, and even with my options set as low some of these items are high in my opinion. Still, I am at a point where I am willing to spend a little more on some quality items, and I am only doing the quarterly shipments. If prices are holding you back, I thought I'd share so you don't have to go into it not knowing!
- Necklace - $36
- Kelsey skirt - $54
- pullover - $58
- striped top - $48
- dress - $78
So, if I keep the skirt and top it will be $102. If I kept the dress in addition, it would be $180. (actually $160 because the $20 styling fee would be applied - does that change if I would keep the whole box? Or knowing that the $102 becomes $82, do I only keep the two items? Oh man. Decisions, decisions.) If I were to keep all five items, the total bill is $274. The 25% discount totals $68.50, and minus the already paid styling fee, my total ends up being $185.50.
My personal opinion, like last time, is that after the discount is applied the total is not completely outrageous for five items. Expensive - yes. But five items from my go-to store, at regular price, wouldn't be much cheaper than that -maybe $150 or so.
