Weekly Wrap-Up: September 17 -23

Better late than never with last week's update, I suppose.

It really wasn't a week to brag about, but something is better than nothing.

So ...

Monday: I ran 4.28 miles in 50:12; I hit the 4 mile mark at about 46:30, so felt pretty good about the run overall.

Tuesday: rest (after running both Sunday and Monday.

Wednesday: decided to take Ava to the library, and these days there are not just enough hours in the day.

Thursday: Chad took it upon himself to get my bike fixed! In honor of that, I headed out for my first bike ride since before half-marathon training! And I don't know how long it had been before that ... I ended up biking 11.89 miles in 1:13.41. It felt great. I didn't have any soreness like in the past, so I take that as a sign my running really has paid off.

Friday: my consistent rest day

Saturday: This ended up being a nice laid back day! Cleaned the house, went to Wal-Mart, and just relaxed. Couldn't ask for much better!

Sunday: Had to take advantage of the beautiful fall afternoon, and headed out for a run. I was hoping for between 6 and 7 miles, but the route I took ended up being 5.52. I finished in 1:04.09. Not a bad run! When I got home, I ended up taking Ava to the park on the bike, so ended up with 4.7 miles of biking as well.

Total mileage: 9.80 miles of running and 16.59 miles of biking. The biking miles have me feeling great; the running miles not so much.

I have had a really hard time getting out on runs since the half. I am trying to figure out if it is due to just needing a mental and physical break from it following all the training; or if it is due to the schedule changes. I am consistently working until 5 to stay on top of paperwork, and the days are getting noticeably shorter. Even within the last week alone, I have noticed it has gone from getting dark around 8 to around 7. So compare to the summer, between work and daylight, I have lost about 3 hours of my evening. Sad. I think it is time to seriously look into the Y, and hopefully that will make a difference.
