For as strong as September started, I am okay with the month being over. By the end, the reality of being back at work had taken its toll. I went into the month thinking (unrealistically) that I'd be able to maintain the quantity of workouts I did over the summer, spend the necessary time I needed at and for work, and spend quality time with my family. I should've been more prepared than I was to have to find a new balance, because I don't feel the balance I had over the summer! And I miss it, but I will figure it out. Admittedly, my 9pm TV hour doesn't do me any favors either, but I love the shows on at that time!
Here's how the month played out ....
I planned to work out 25/30 days. I ended with 19/30 days. The 25 was taking just one rest day each week. Even if I give myself two, I should have ended up over 20. I had a few stretches where I just got tired and a few days I made some excuses. I also had a cancelled class and some things outside of my control.
Somehow I ended up writing down 146 miles for the month as a goal. However, early on in the month, with just one missed one, I started trying to figure out how I came up with that number. Since then I've added and readded what I had originally planned and still can't figure out what I did. Most consistently, it looks like I should've been around 90-95 miles. After a few missed long runs and some missed mid-distance runs when I did TRX instead and then chose to go home for supper, I ended with just 40.71 miles. This is by far the most disappointing stat of the month. Plus it is my lowest mileage month of the year! :( Ugh.
I planned to go to 24 fitness classes for strength and cross-training this month, and ended with 22. I actually missed 5 of my originally planned classes (one was cancelled, one I couldn't get signed up for, one Sunday I ran instead, and two TRX classes I skipped). I made up a few of them when I went to three back-back, 25 minute classes on a Saturday morning. I am enjoying kickboxing - and cycling when I can get there (which isn't as often as I did this summer). I still love my Interval Conditioning/kettle bells. TRX isn't everything it was cracked up to be, but I can feel it the next day!
Total time spent training/working out was 22:26:46.
October is already planned out ... my main focuses will be my half-marathon and finding the rhythm I need for the school year!

Are you more of a short-term or long-term planner? Big picture or detail oriented?
Any big goals for this month?
