It is race week. Just a handful of days until I toe the start line of my very first marathon.
Holy buckets. A mixture of emotions are starting to find their way in. I am going to have to work to keep myself in check this week!

My wordiest plan of all time -
What do I want this week to look like? I don't know to be honest! I want to start my summer routine - trying to fit in some extra workouts and put forth some effort that has been missing while I have been working missing a few beats - without jeopardizing the feeling of fresh legs on Saturday.
Here are my initial thoughts:
Monday - I have a few thoughts on tomorrow .... if Ava and I wake up and can fit it in before her 11:05 doctor appointment, I will do a slow 6 miles with her in the stroller, and it may or may not include a few park stops. With the threat of rain and severe weather being predicted for the evening, this would free the evening up for a class. I think the only one that interests me on Monday's is boot camp - which could be a risk. They are serious classes! So, I am torn. If we don't "run" in the morning, we could go in the afternoon - weather permitting (taking rain, storms, and heat all into consideration).
Tuesday - Ava will be going to day care, so this is the day I plan to get one last dress rehearsal in. I just don't know how many miles I want to do. 6? 10? 13? I won't go more than "half the distance" - and I do feel I could comfortably do it and not risk much for Saturday. I will follow my gut that day. Depending on the distance I go, I may or may not go to Interval Conditioning/kettle bells that night.
Wednesday - I will work out, but I really don't know what I will do? Maybe a brisk walk? Maybe a bike ride (if I can convince Ava to go in the bike trailer)? Class? Wednesdays are boot camp and cycle box days in the evening - I don't know what the day time schedule looks like! (I love that I can consider the day time schedule!) I doubt I will run this day.
Thursday - 30 minute HIIT class while Ava is at gym and swim. Interval Conditioning/kettle bells in the evening. If I run, it will be to the Y and back and that is it. Just to keep the legs loose.
Friday - Rest .... drive to Duluth! Oh my .... my pulse quickened writing that and thinking about what I will write next! Naturally, walk around the expo and do some touring of Duluth. Not a lot of walking if I can help it!
Saturday - Grandma's Marathon. All 26.2 miles. The quote that has stuck in my head the last two or three weeks is "You get what you work for, not what you wish for." You all know I haven't had the best month of training. I pray I have put in enough work to cross the finish line, even if it is not my best performance or time. I hope what I wish for pushes me through the road blocks I have seen in my training runs! I can't believe I am doing this!
Sunday - well deserved, rest! And driving the 4 hours back from Duluth!

Race week, here I come!

Good luck! Rest up this week, I don't know that I would do half the distance, you really want fresh legs on Saturday. I can't wait to see how you do, so exciting!
I wouldn't do half the distance either. I am running grandmas on Saturday as well and did 8 on Saturday, this week I will do a 3 today, 5 tomorrow and 4 Wednesday. Don't overdo it this close to race day!! Good luck! Can't wait to hear how it goes. Fingers crossed for good weather.
