Weekly Wrap-Up: 6/16/14 - 6/22/14

Monday 6/16: I planned to either do a slow 6 mile run with Ava or go to boot camp. It ended up being boot camp! We didn't move fast enough in the morning to get out, and the sky looked threatening all afternoon even though the storms didn't hit until around 6:30 in the evening. (For the record, we ended up with 6+ inches of rain between 6/16-6/19.) Anyway. The regular boot camp instructor was out, and the sub was Debra - who teaches the class I go to on Tuesdays/Thursdays. It ended up being a lot like our interval conditioning/kettle bell class, except with bouts of stair running. Oh my.

Tuesday 6/17: I intended to do a final dress rehearsal before Saturday, but we had enough rain Monday night that parts of the path I was to run were under water. If that was just the parts I could see, I didn't want to venture out into what I couldn't see. I ended up signing up for a 45 minute cycling class - despite warnings to not over do it or introduce a "new" activity into my routine before "The Big Day". Later that night, I still went to kettle bells, and was glad it seemed more upper body focused than many of her classes do.

Wednesday 6/18: I didn't know what I wanted to do this day. Cycling the day before went well, but I could feel it in my glutes. Since I knew Saturday was to be sort of a big deal, I took the day off! ;)

Thursday 6/19: During Ava's gym and swim in the morning I went to a 30 minute HIIT class; this week's focus was kettle bells. I felt pretty good going into the class. About 10 - maybe 15 minutes - in we were doing alternating single arm swings.  (so you'd swing with one arm, and switch to the other arm at the top of the swing). Doing this, I suddenly felt something in my lower back go really tight. I should of just left class, but I stayed and did what I could. But I didn't do everything. My back was seriously sore the rest of the day. I was so nervous not knowing what was going to happen and how it was going to feel the rest of the week. Needless to say, I new better than to try interval conditioning class that night!

Friday 6/20: Rest - drove to Duluth! Spent a good portion of our evening at the indoor waterpark!

Saturday 6/21: Grandma's Marathon! 26.2 miles! But this deserves a post of it's own .... I will work on it over the next day or so. I can't actually believe I am still up now!

Sunday 6/22: Rest .... a well deserved rest. As if I could do anything else. My quads are killing me!

Totals for the week (not including the marathon ....)

4 group fitness classes for 2 hours, 55 minutes of work outs!
