Motivational Monday: 6/23/14

I don't know that the reality of it has sunk in yet! Feels like it was just another race, but it really is a pretty big deal! Promise, the recap is coming tomorrow.

----

I feel a little bit weird putting together a plan for what to do this week now that the marathon is over! I am not sure where to put my focus, although I do have a few shorter races coming up in the next few weeks. The focus this week will be rest and recovery, and workouts will depend on how my legs are feeling. I am already feeling a lot better than yesterday, but still sore through my quads.

Monday: keeping today easy. Might try some yoga just to stretch things out. There is a class at the Y in about an hour, but not sure I am going to rush to get there! I have one yoga DVD around here somewhere, and I know you can get them on On Demand now, too! Or maybe I will try a walk to shake things out. It just won't be very speedy! :)

Tuesday: I really enjoyed the change of pace with the cycling class I did last week, so I am hoping my legs feel up to it. I also wouldn't mind getting right back to the grind and going to Interval Conditioning/kettle bells!

Wednesday: I wouldn't mind going to kickboxing in the morning, but will play it by ear depending on how I feel after Tuesday. If I right away go back to feeling tired, I will take the day off.

Thursday: 30 minute HIIT classes while Ava is in gym & swim. She announced the plan for this week is tabatas. 30 minutes of tabatas should be interesting! We leave in the afternoon for a weekend in my husband's home town.

Friday: I am hoping I will be up for a little shake out run. There is a loop I can take from my in-laws; I just can't remember if it is 3 miles or 5 miles. :) I will map it out before we leave!

Saturday: I'd like to say I will get back in the groove and go for another easy run of 3-5 miles; but it will depend on how the morning goes. Since it is the town's festival days, there is a lot going on. My husband and I will each play in the bean bag tournament and hang out at the softball fields where the bags, softball, and volleyball are all going on. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I hate it. We have to be out there at 9, so we'll see.

Sunday: After the 4 hour drive back home, not sure what I can commit to for the afternoon/evening hours. I know yesterday afternoon when we got home, I didn't feel up to anything. Of course, that may have something to do with the fact that I ran a marathon the day before ... next weekend all I will have to blame it on is late nights, dancing, and maybe a beer or two!

----

It won't be the most intense week, but the goal will be to make sure I am recovered from the weekend and slowly build back up to a good base.
