1. Run Grandma's Marathon - Check! What an experience that was. Here is my recap of the race.
2. Set a half-marathon PR -Check! Did it at Earth Day Run 2014 on 4/19/14. It was a PR by over 12 minutes. The recap was in this post. (PS. My plan is to go for another PR at the Mankato Marathon half in October!)
3. Buy a camper - Check! We ended up buying one from our neighbors at the old house.
| It's a 1993, and we paid a fair price for it. Looking forward to making many great memories in this! |
4. Go camping! - we haven't used the camper yet; but have reservations for two weekends coming up! Can't wait.
5. Go to church - Nothing changed here since April - we went a few times early in the year, but need to put more focus on it. I really do miss this aspect of my life. I just haven't found a church that seems to be a perfect fit for us here. - We're pretty busy this summer, but hopefully come September we can make some progress here.
6. Scrapbook - Same update as April - I am so far behind on printing pictures, putting them in books, and working on layouts. I am hoping to spend some time this summer working on this. - still have over a month to make some progress before the grind of a new school year.
7. Lose 40 pounds - this was an ambitious goal set after I lost 10 pounds between September and December last year. Since then I have fluctuated between 168 and 173 and have not lost anymore. I don't necessarily care if I lose 40, but I want to lose some. Through April and May, I was pretty consistently at 171. In June I maintained a 168-169, with higher numbers right after our weekends away. My goal for the next two months before school starts is 8 pounds ... too ambitious? I hope not.
8. Start a Master's program - Again, my plan is to finish my Master's in Special Education since I already have graduate level credits to apply to the degree. I didn't start in June like I maybe could have. I am not signed up for September. This is probably a January 2015 goal at this point.
9. Run 900 miles - I was at 173.7 for the year in April. Monthly totals for quarter one were 40.9, 50.3, and 77. After three additional runs my total for the year is up to 364 miles, with monthly totals April - 67.9, May - 51.5, and June - 76.2. I arrived at the 900 miles for the year goal by planning to run 75 miles per month. I have only reached that goal twice. Yikes. Last year my total was 636.6 miles - and while I didn't track previous years, I can say with confidence that was my highest mileage year thus far. I need to at least beat that and getting to 900 would just be icing on the cake.
10. Go to a (Minnesota) Twins game - We were hoping to go for Chad's birthday, but buying a house set those plans back. Maybe we will get lucky and be able to catch a home game in September, because this summer is out! If not, this will make the list again next year.
11. Go to a (Green Bay) Packers game - I was thinking next season, but then had an amazing experience going to the playoff game on January 5 with one of my very best friends. It was so cold, but so much fun!! Still might consider looking into tickets when they plan the Patriots next season, as Chad likes New England. Something about Tom Brady's family originally being from Browerville!
12. Makeover the upstairs - no longer applies since moving.
13. Redecorate Ava's room - Ava got all new bedroom furniture and bedding with the move. We still have some decorations to put up, curtains to buy, and a few other finishing touches to take of. Overall, this room came together nicely and is one of the few rooms that feels nearly done! I will share pictures soon!
14. Organize the house - the purpose of this goal has changed since first setting it. With the move, it has taken on a new meaning! There is really just one room - and then a pile of boxes in the basement - that need some serious attention. The main rooms of the house are feeling very functional. There are a few organizational items to address, but as we have settled in I have tried hard to address organization and keep it that way. Decorating is another story .... I've done very little at this point! But that is okay.

So nice to see some progress. Some are checked off, others are in progress, and still others need some purposeful attention. Generally, I am happy with what has been accomplished so far this year, and look forward to seeing what the next 6 months have in store.
Do you set New Years Resolutions or set goals for yourself at the start of the year? What is your progress looking like?
