Monday: planned Rest/travel day - and that's exactly what it was. Ava and I had gotten home around 4:00 that afternoon, and a workout just wasn't in the books.
Tuesday: I made my plan Cycling in the morning/Interval Conditioning/kettle bells in the evening after switching a dentist appointment from 12 noon to 11am. I thought for sure that I'd be done in time to go to cycling at 12:05; imagine my disappointment when I checked my phone as I was leaving and it was already 12:12. Ugh. I guess my original plan didn't include cycling, so it's not the end of the world - but it sure would have helped me get back on track. I did make it to IC/kettle bells in the evening. Still had a substitute instructor, so still didn't have the intensity I am used to. I didn't focus much more on strength though - so it was it's own challenge in it's own way.
Wednesday: planned - 8 mile run; actual nothing! Ugh. After watching my friend's boys during the day, I asked Chad if he wanted me to run first or if he wanted to go grocery shopping for camping first. He didn't care - I should have ran first, but instead said we should get stuff ready for the weekend first. We had to run to Wal Mart and the grocery store. I couldn't believe it was after 6 when we got home - but then again I did watch the boys until 4! I then cut up the fruit we were taking with us over the weekend, and just ran out of time. I knew though that if I ran first, I wouldn't have gotten even half of the packing done that I did that night. Disappointed, but over it!
Thursday: 30 minute HIIT class - this week we used BOSU balls and did tabatas! The first five minutes we basically did a step routine on the BOSU to warm up - we then had four rounds of tabatas with a minute of strength work (squats, lunges, triceps, etc.) in between. Each round consisted of three - or maybe four - intervals. As hard as it sounds, it wasn't the hardest HIIT class I've been to this summer! I felt better when she announced at the start of class that it was an intense class. This 30 minute class has tested me over the last six weeks!
Friday: I packed running clothes to try to make up my missed run. Long story short - it didn't happen. Partly because of my motivation and the fact that we were camping. Partly because Chad had to run around in the morning to nearby towns to buy a new grill/propane tank. Ours wasn't working right - always at the most inopportune time. My plan was to eat some cereal, run, and then eat a big breakfast with Chad and Ava when I got back. Chad didn't want to wait that long to eat, and made himself some sausage - well tried to. By the time that fiasco was figured out, it wasn't going to happen in the morning. During nap time, I read my book and procrastinated some more. I did get several miles of hiking and walking in though, so the day wasn't a complete loss. As a family we went at least 2.5 miles - at intermittent paces and with built in breaks! On my own, I probably did another mile or so.
Saturday: planned 6 mile run; actual was just some more hiking. After not running Friday, I was determined to run! Friday night the campground host even came around and gave out some handouts and information on things going on, including a Health and Fitness expo that included a 5k! Registration was cheap! I was on board; but when I woke up in the morning, there was no way Chad and Ava were waking up so early. Rather than go into town alone, or try running when the 5k was happening (it used the path between town and the campground I would've ran), I took Max for another walk while Chad and Ava went fishing. I didn't take him as far as I planned to - but we got in 1-2 miles at least.
Sunday: Rest/traveled home after an amazing weekend of camping!
----
Total:
2 group fitness classes for 70 minutes
So pathetic after a 7 hour training week where I nailed every workout that was planned. Yet - those weeks are going to happen. I am so, so glad that everything balanced itself out though. I didn't lose any weight this week, but I didn't gain either! Which given the fact that we were camping is a surprising win!
