We had a superb long, enjoyable holiday weekend. For my three things post, I divided our weekend into three part ...
1. We started the weekend down at the park on Thursday night. Freedom Fest starts on the 3rd with food vendors, free bouncy houses, a small arts and crafts fair, music at the bandshell, and fireworks. We ate supper down there, let Ava play in the bouncy houses and go down the big slides, and then ended the night with ice cream. We should have just stayed for the fire works because Ava stayed up late anyway!
2. Friday morning I took Ava to the parade. We sat with some friends of ours and had a great time! There were a few great floats, but what made me laugh the most was the miniature ponies. The one stands about as tall as the lady's waist; we always joke our dog, Max, is part horse because he is so big! He stands at least as tall on me as that pony on her!
3. During the afternoon, we took out Ava's pool and slip & slide. She had a blast. Around 4, our friends came over - the kids swam some more, then played games and ran around. The adults had a few drinks, played some bean bags, and made dinner. After we ate, we sat around talking awhile longer, before we went over to their house. From there we walked to a balcony at a church not far from their house. It gave us a perfect view of the fireworks without having to deal with the traffic and crowds down at the park. Plus, Kretta had sparklers and Ava got to use one for the first time!
All in all, it was a stellar weekend. Life just seems in-check right now!
