Weekly Wrapup: 6/30/14 - 7/6/14

Monday: I was debating between Cycle Box and Core Conditioning and a run - or both! I ended up doing neither. I woke up so tired. I could tell that the two weekends in a row away had taken their toll on me, and that I didn't rest or sleep enough the first week after Grandma's. I was half asleep on the couch until around 10 in the morning. I thought I could still get a run in that afternoon; but the rain hit and I just accepted it was a rest day!

Tuesday: planned cycling in the afternoon and interval conditioning/kettle bells in the evening. Tuesdays are the day that Ava goes to day care, so around 9 we left the house. Chad had my key ring with our new car at work. So I grabbed his single key to the Blazer when we left. I didn't think anything of it until I got back home and was walking up to the door with a single car key; that's right, I locked myself out of the house! Good grief. I double checked every door and they were all locked. I thought about trying to climb up on the lower part of the roof to try to get into a window, but was nervous about how I would get back down if it was locked! So - although I had workout clothes on, I did not have appropriate shoes. Instead of going to cycling, I went to WalMart and Target, and sat out on the deck for awhile. Chad had quite the laugh when he got home. I did make it to IC in the evening - I let Ava come to class with me since she would have been the only kid in the day care. I don't know if they love that, but others have done it so I let her. It was so cute to watch. Cardio was focused on jump rope, the rest of class was similar to most. I might try in future weeks to up the kettle bell I use for swings! Crazy.

Wednesday: I went to kickboxing in the morning (mid-morning!). It was more comfortable than last week, and I loved it. I'm sad that I won't be able to go the next three Wednesdays because I am watching a friend's boys! In the evening, I headed out for my first run post-marathon. My goal was to try to get an 11 minute/mile pace. The first couple of miles went really well, and after three I started to feel pretty fatigued. Coupled with it being my first run, I could feel soreness in my knee in the same spot I think I slightly overextended it in kickboxing. Mile 5 was especially slow, and I think that was because that was the hilliest section. The hills really made the knee ache. Still I ended with an 11:36. It was a good shakeout run in 1:09:42!

Thursday: I planned to do the 30 minute HIIT class during Ava's gym & swim class, and IC/kettle bells in the evening. I headed to HIIT, and again realized I need to stop thinking that class is going to be easy because it is just 30 minutes. It was sort of like my interval conditioning classes today in the moves (some planks, mountain climbers, plank jacks, mixed with jumping rope, and a variety of squat and lunges, among some others), but without the weights/kettle bell moves. I don't know if it is just the constant (because sometimes the weight portions can give you a chance to catch your breath) but these moves tend to kick my butt. I also didn't know if I was just fatigued and sore from Wednesday's workouts? Either way, I felt like it was a good burn. I ended up not going to IC/bells that night - first, because I felt like the break would be good for my legs. Second, because after having two people in class that morning we were in for a very small group, and third, because I decided to take my little family down to Freedom Fest! It was a good night.

Friday: Rest - 4th of July parade and fireworks, with time with friends inbetween! It was a super fun day. I will share pictures from the day in a separate post!

Saturday: Hog Jog 5 mile run - which I already recapped! Ran it in 49:46.2 :)

Sunday: Rest - even though I seriously considered making up what I missed on Monday.

----

All in all, I'd say I was a good week. Sure, I missed a couple of workouts but I am still content with the work I put in. Although I will say, I feel like I am putting in the work and still not seeing results on the scale, which is irritating me lately. But rather than get on a tangent, I will stop writing!

Total Training this week:

2 runs for 11ish miles (remember, my Garmin came up slightly short at the Hog Jog) in 1:57:28
3 group fitness classes for 2 hours
Total Time Training: 3:57:28
