Around the House: Ava's Room

If you've followed the blog over the last few months, you know we bought a house in May! I will admit that I have not gotten as much done around the house this summer as I would have liked. Case in point; the bathroom needs painting and something on the walls, the living room needs décor, the spare bedroom/office area is still boxes. The dining room is a work in progress, the kitchen is staying as is for the time being, and our room looks boring.

But Ava's room? Her room is considered done at this point and I just wanted to share it!

Before

After! She had a pink room since she was born! Moving up to a twin size bed meant new bedding and new colors. She insisted on purple! I was really nervous about the curtains; they don't match any of the other teal colors but I don't think you can even tell!

standing at the foot of the bed. I actually really like the colors of the bedding (from Target). It fits her age now, but is also something that can grow with her.

to the right of the bed, I put a shelf for all of her books, puzzles, and other quiet toys. The Princess canvas says, "Sparkle wherever you are." My plan with the castle is to change it out from time to time with other toys that are in the closet so she plays with different things (not that she can't get them from the closet anytime she wants!)

This corner is probably my least favorite, mainly because it gets messy so fast! But what little girl (or boy) should have to do without a kitchen set and place to play house?

At the foot of the bed is where her dresser sits and where I hung the bulletin board. That is also the closet door sneaking in on the right hand side of the picture.

The letters above her bed. Shows the teal color (this matches the dark teal in the bedding). These letters have been with us since day 1, but now have a new color!

Detail on the lamp that matches the bedding.

Between the window and the closet door is this adorable picture! It will evolve into a great place to showcase whatever achievements she meets!

Just showing the random corner - nothing like a hamper under a picture? Just one of those things I never know where to put!

What's important to a 4 year old? Hair ties, a rock collection, and her piggy bank.

And that's it. It is a good sized bedroom, but it is amazing how fast it fills up. :) I am sure parts of it will evolve over time, with different things on the walls, different pieces of furniture, etc. For now though, I think it is just perfect for our energetic, opinionated, independent four year old!
