Beth, from Shut Up + Run, posted a fun running survey, that I just had to follow up on. A series of questions to ask your kids about your running. Here are the questions, and Ava's answers (at age 5).
1. What does your mom eat before a run?
grapefruit. (For the record, I do like grapefruit. However, it is not my typical pre-run food.)
2. How far does your mom run everyday?
5 miles. (She was pretty accurate!)
3. What was your mom’s favorite race?
I don't know. (I figured this one would be hard for a five year old.)
4. Why do you think your mom runs?
To get the fat away. (I do say I have to keep the fat away or get the fat off more than I should around her. Sad realization.)
5. What injuries has your mom had from running?
Her leg. (Fair enough. Thankfully, aside from some aches and pains here and there, I've not dealt with any serious injuries. Hope it stays that way.)
6. Do you like going to your mom’s races?
Yes. (Oh good, because I like when they come!)
7. Does having a mom who runs make you want to run?
Yes. (And I love watching her!)
8. What have you learned from having a mom who runs?
I go with. (I think this was a difficult question for a five year old to understand. Hopefully over time she will understand all the healthy components and life skills running teaches us!)
9. What is your least favorite thing about having a mom who
runs?
Because I want to go with. (Yeah, she doesn't like when she can't run with me. Maybe when she is a tad bit older, or more willing to ride her bike!)
10. Do you think you’ll run when you are your mom’s age?
Yes. (Again, I hope so. I hope we can run together for a while before she is my age!)
