In Review: June

June was my comeback month!

Memorial Day weekend I made a pact with myself to get back to a regular routine of working out, eating better, and not letting myself stay in the slump I was in.

I still have moments of anger and sadness over the things that put me in the slump - I still have moments of being down on myself for falling apart instead of staying strong - I still have moments where the guilt creeps in because I feel selfish for wanting to focus on other goals instead of those things I wanted so badly (namely trying to refocus on running goals instead of pushing harder to do more fertility treatments - I've never looked at those to things as compatible) -

But I am getting there.

Workouts have become part of my regular routine again.

I feel better. I feel stronger. Overall, I feel happier. I am starting to feel refreshed and put back together.

I have two weeks of teaching summer school left, and then I hope to add feeling balanced back to that list, too.

These emotional victories can't really be quantified. You're just going to have to believe me that it has been a good month.

Here's what I can put numbers to:

I went from having logged next to zero miles most of the year, to mainly walking 20 miles in May, to running (run/walk) 41.2 miles in June.

I also attended 10 group fitness classes at the Y.

Altogether, I logged some sort of exercise on 21/29 days!

When I made the pact with myself, I had high hopes of seeing fast results on the scale. That has not happened yet. I am working on a post just about the weight and my weigh-ins, but after a lot of bouncing around, I've netted just a two pound weight loss this month.

I can only hope July is as good to me as June was.

How was your month? What goals are you working towards?
How do you measure progress that can't necessarily be quantified?

(Posts like this would be more fun with pictures. I have to get better about including pictures in my posts again! I'll work on it!)

June for me was pretty relaxed, no plan, just running for fun :) It felt good after following a pretty rigid plan for awhile.

I have a Ragnar Relay coming up soon and then I will be falling back into half marathon training.

I hope you have a great July! and yes, pictures!
