Monday 6/29: headed out for a 6 mile run, until I ran into a "trail closed" sign. I knew there was construction over there, but hadn't been in that area to see exactly what road and also didn't realize the path would be closed! So, I turned around and altered my route. I also had to make a stop for - um, stomach issues! So it wasn't a great run. I was going at a pretty decent pace before my stop, but had a hard time getting my groove back. Ended with 5.66 miles in 1:16:25.

Tuesday 6/30: I had signed up for a cycling class, but my parents and two of my nieces were up visiting. We decided to go to the lake early instead of late. So I changed my workout plans and went to kettle bells that night. The strength training is probably more beneficial than the cardio anyway! At class we did a fair number of swings, and quite a few lunges! All in all, it was a good workout!
Wednesday 7/1: An unusual start to the month of July with temperatures only in the 60s. I took advantage of having my parents here to get in an unusual morning run. I ran 4.76 miles in 1:01:52. Not a steallar run, but I am finding some consistency and feeling better with each run!

Thursday 7/2: Planned and actual - kettle bell interval conditioning. Good thing that is an evening class, because after my parents left I literally sat and did nothing for like three hours! I then had an eye doctor appointment, started laundry, and finally made it to the Y for class!
what Ava did during my hours of nothingness!
Friday 7/3: My 4th of July weekend started with a trip to the MSP (Minneapolis/St Paul) airport to pick up my good friend Heidi. Ava and I then went to Eau Claire to spend the weekend with Heidi and her parents. I knew with all the driving, and needing to be at the airport by 10:00 that it was probably going to be a rest day - and I was okay with that. After we got to Eau Claire, we ate lunch and spend the afternoon at the pool!
Ava's first time in an airport. Too bad all the new security measures keep you from seeing anything cool!
Saturday 7/4: Heidi was gracious enough to watch Ava for me so I could get in my weekend run. I went 5.49 miles on a beautiful trail in Eau Claire. Best part was logging my fastest average pace of the summer so far! I increased my running portions of my run/walk routine and also decreased the walk portions slightly. Even with some inconsistencies mid-run, I ended with pace that shows some progress! Nothing to complain about after this run!

Sunday 7/5: One of the things Eau Claire had going on for the holiday weekend was the Chippewa Valley Air Show, featuring the US Navy Blue Angels! To beat the crowds and get a decent spot to sit, we headed out to the airport about 9:30. The show ended just after 4. We packed up, headed to the car, and waited in traffic to get out! It actually wasn't bad - we had heard stories from people that went on Saturday that some people waited over an hour to get out! We were out about 20 minutes after getting in the car. Ava and I used the bathroom, changed clothes, and got back in the car to head home. I surprisingly drove without feeling too tired, and we got home about 8:15. That is not typical traveling for us - we try to be home by mid-afternoon on Sundays to have time to get back into routine. I can't complain though - it was a fabulous weekend! Another day I knew a workout was not likely - and again I was okay with that.
I wasn't very smart in not bringing my good camera, but this one is pretty good for a phone picture!
