Weekly Wrap-Up: 7.13.15 - 7.19.15

This week wasn't quite as good as last, but I also can't complain. Here's the run down:

Monday: planned a run; however, it was one of the hottest, most humid days thus far this summer. One of those days that made me wish morning runs were possible with my and Chad's work schedules. Rather than try to run late enough to not be miserable, I took Ava to the pool and called it a night.

Tuesday: 40 minute kettle bell interval conditioning class. We did lots of lunges, ab work, and swings.

Wednesday: Got in a 5.1 mile run. It was another hot one, but not quite as humid. I took it easy, and after I found my rhythm decided I was going to try to finish the 5 miles at 13:00min/mile average or faster. I had totally done it until I hit 5 miles then walked around the corner to home. Uh. Oh well. All things considered, it was a good run.

Thursday: First, I did a 30 minute cycling class, thinking that was all I would be able to get in. However, due to rain, the second Kiwanis Club Open Track night was cancelled. Since I couldn't take Ava to that, I headed to kettle bells as well.

Friday: A planned cross training day, I went to Cycle Box. I was a little nervous about the boxing after the shoulder work we did in kettle bells the night before, but it went well! I had also thought about making up some missed miles before hand, but slept in instead. Hey, it was my first day after finishing summer school! Can you blame me? :)
Saturday: Planned a 6 mile run, ended up doing nothing. I slept later than I thought I would and at 7:30 it was already 70* and 83% humidity. I decided to see what the day held, and opted to set an alarm for Sunday morning if I had to. I was really low energy all day, so maybe I just needed the day of nothingness.

Sunday: Even though I did set my alarm, I still slept in. But I knew I couldn't skip another run. So, I got up, got dressed, ate a bowl of cereal, and headed out. It really wasn't too bad. Although, around mile 3 I was drenched in sweat, and after mile 5 I noticed the sweat had dried and I could feel the salt on my skin. Probably should have hydrated more? I was drinking every 10 minutes, and went through my full water bottle (a 20 oz, I think). Much like Wednesday's run, it wasn't very fast but it was consistent. Again, I opted to keep it consistent and finish each mile as close to 13 minutes or faster. All went according to plan until the last mile. There is one hill in that mile that tends to do me in, and I think paired with the weather the last mile just wasn't meant to be.

It is so much harder for me to get in runs when I have to do them at night. Great week, especially with all the cross training! I need to be better about that.
