After taking a rest day yesterday,
today became a running day instead of a cross training day.
Sticking with the 6:15am start time,
I started with 1/4mile at 4.7mph.
Then I ran the rest of mile 1 at 5.0 (12:00min/mile pace).
With a goal time in mind, I bumped the speed up to 5.2 - or 11:32 min/mile.
I was hoping I would maintain that pace til the end of the 3.1 miles.
But around the 2.5 mark, though my legs were going strong, the rest of me felt like I was going to die.
So, I bumped the speed back down to 5.0.
As I neared the 2.75 mile mark, I realized I only had a 1/4 mile left.
With a slight chance to make my goal.
So, I pushed.
And though I only intended to go back to 5.2 - I ran til the end at 5.4mph.
Final time was 36:14.
My goal was 36min or less.
Not too shabby!
According to the treadmill, my average pace was 11:45min/mile.
But I don't know how accurate that is because it includes the cool down.
Though, I think it is pretty close!
