I thought about getting up at 6:30 this morning, and heading right for the gym.
Instead, I opted to "sleep in" til 7:20!
Actually, the whole family slept til then; which is late compared to the last couple of days.
So, we got dressed and made breakfast. After playing for a bit, of course.
Around 9:30, we called to see when my in-laws would be coming through on their way back home.
We thought they were going to be here at 10:30, so I got dressed and ready for a visit.
Turns out it was going to be 11:30 before they got here.
Though I was disappointed then that I didn't go running earlier, I figured it is was it is.
We spent the afternoon visiting. Grabbing a quick lunch. Going to Sam's.
When Ava went down for a nap at 3:30, I knew I needed to seize the opportunity.
And off to Gold's went.
5 miles? DONE!
I was focused only on hitting my distance goal. So, I set the 'mill at a 13:02 pace - or 4.6mph.
And I ran. And ran.
And while I felt tired, I never felt exhausted or fatigued!
Honestly, I was surprised how easy the miles went by. And how fast time seemed to be going.
Honestly, I wanted to push myself faster. But was afraid I would end up exhausted and not getting the mileage.
So, I held back.
Once I was at 4.5 miles, and I knew I was going to finish - I finally bumped up the speed to 4.9.
I ran the last half a mile.
And finished all 5 in a time of 64 minutes.
Even though I made sure to stretch before and after - something I am not good about doing - I am feeling it tonight!
But: it.is.soooo.worth.it!
The best part was I doubted if I would be able to do it.
But I proved myself wrong.
And that feels great!
