When I started this journey in October, I set out to do the Earth Day Half Marathon in April.
Then I had a mishap with our steps, and was in a walking cast for 8 weeks.
In the midst of the holiday busyness, I gave myself til the new year to get to training.
I started training January 3, not really knowing if the half was still an option. I basically felt like I was trying to go from 0-13.1 in 16 weeks, and with not having gone that distance before I doubted if that was possible. Plus, I had many good days, but also a lot of bad days. In other words, my training was off to a very inconsistent start.
In the wake of all this, I asked another runner I knew to do the Earth Day Half Marathon Relay with me. She agreed! A few more inconsistent weeks before finally, I was on my way!
About two weeks ago, I found out my partner wasn't feeling it would be possible. Of course I was feeling disappointed, but I would never expect her to run it if she wasn't feeling ready.
This definitely isn't helping my out-of-syncness I wrote about yesterday. I feel like I knew what my goal was, and now I don't.
Aside from being a runner of course.
(which is the most important goal of this journey)
But, I like having races to guide me. Otherwise, I tend to fall right back down.

So, I've come up with a new plan.
- April: Earth Day 5K (so I still run the original weekend!)
- May: 10K
- June: Half-Marathon (!!)
- June: 5K (one that I've run before, and would like to do annually)
- Aug: 10K
- September: Half-Marathon (if 2 in 4 months doesn't prove to be too much)
- Late Fall: either a 10K or 5K to end the year
I have a few specific races in mind, but will share details after registration.

And so, this week becomes Week 1 of training for the June half marathon.
Here's the plan for the week:
Tuesday: 'easy' 4 milesWednesday: XT - bike, strength, elliptical
Thursday: 4 miles - with 2 or 2.5 at a tempo pace
Friday: XT - bike/strength circuit
Saturday: long run - 6 miles

Good for you for laying out a plan! I think what you have decided on is manageable and will help you feel back on track. It's never easy to get back up when we stumble, but you're definitely on your way!
